This ancient bridge is a symbol of Zakho. It is called "Pera Dalal" meaning Dalal Bridge, and is also called the Abbasi Bridge. It may be from Roman times, but others think it is from the Abbasid Caliphate time, which is contemporary to the "One thousand and One Night" stories. Dalal is the name of the daughter of the chief architect who agreed to sacrifice her life so that her father would be successful in finishing the construction of the bridge. There are more details to the story than this little note.
